FORCES IN MATTER

Forces can act from a distance o through contact. When they act from a distance they are cold non-contact forces. When they come into contact with the object they are called contact forces.

NON-CONTACT FORCES

Magnetism is a force that can attract or repel mangetic objetcs. Let's watch the following video.

Gravity is a non-contact force that pulls objects towards  each other.
Learn more things...

CONTACT FORCES

We have got  two different contact forces: Applied force and Buoyant force.

When an object is put in a liquid there is an upward force acting on it called buoyancy. This is what makes objects float.

Watch the following videos about this force:

CHANGES IN MATTER

Matter can change in many ways. These changes are classified into two types:
Physical changes and Chemical changes.

PHYSICAL CHANGES

In a physical change no new substance is formed and properties of the substance stay the same.

CHEMICAL CHANGES

In a chemical change a new substance or substances form.

Sources of Energy (Non-renewable and renewable energy)

There are two types sources of energy :renewable and non-renewable resources.

Non-renewable energy sources come from the ground and the seabed. We can't replace these natural materials and they will eventuallu run out.

Renewable energy: we can also find the Sun, wind and water as sources of energy. These are renewable sources of energy because they do not run out. They are much better for the environment because they do not cause pollution.

Energy | The Dr. Binocs Show | Educational Videos For Kids

There are many different types of energy. We are going to look at the six most important types.

1. SOLAR OR THERMAL ENERGY.
2. MECHANICAL ENERGY
3. SOUND ENERGY
4. ELECTRICAL ENERGY
5. LIGHT ENERGY
6. CHEMICAL ENERGY

Now, learn everything about energy in detail with Dr. Binocs.

Separating Materials in a Mixture: Sieving, Filtering and Evaporating

We can SEPARATE the different materials in a mixture.

We can separate some materials in a mixture by SIEVING, FILTERING or EVAPORATING.

- SIEVING: good for separating solids of different sizes.

- FILTERING: good for separating solids and liquids.

- EVAPORATING: good for separating a solid that is dissolved in a liquid.

States of Matter song

UNIT 4 YEAR 3: 'The Animal Kingdom'

Invertebrate groups (Videos)

There are many different types of invertebrates and we classify them into groups.

ARTHROPODS

This group includes four subgroups: insects, arachnids, myriapods and crustaceans.

MOLLUSCS

There are three main subgroups: gastropds, bivalves and cephalopods

OTHER INVERTEBRATE GROUPS

There are other groups of invertebrates that include a variety of different animals:

CNIDARIANS: such as jellyfish

ANNELIDS: such as earthworms

ECHINODERMS: such as starfish
